Fund Raising Drive Announced for Agent Orange Memorial
On Sunday March 29th, the Veterans National Memorial Shrine and Museum announced the start of a fundraising drive to raise money for a memorial.
Eric Johnson First Vice Commander announced the start of the fundraising drive in hopes of raising $60,000 for a permanent memorial to all those soldiers who made it back from the war but later died after suffering the effects of being exposed to agent orange, a chemical used in Vietnam to kill vegetation and jungle foliage. Estimates are that 800,000 Vietnam Veterans have already died from the effects of this toxic dioxin. Johnson says “the VA cannot tell us how many vets are suffering from agent orange exposure, only conditions and benefits of veterans they serve. Over 2.6 million soldiers served in Vietnam and over 600,000 are still alive today.”
If you would like to make a donation on behalf of a loved one you lost to agent orange, they can be made online, at the War History Museum 2122 O’Day Road Fort Wayne, IN, or by mailing a check to Veterans Memorial P.O. Box 26 Arcola, IN 46704.
