Revolutionary War

George Wasington, American Revolutionary War

After years of British rule and regulation, it was April 19th in the Spring of 1775 when minutemen fought British soldiers at Lexington & Concord.

It was the “Shot heard round the world.”

The war for independence officially ended in October of 1781, though fighting flared on and off for two more years. Our collection from this time period helps define perhaps the most monumental moment in United States history.
