American Indian Wars
Almost from the beginning of colonization of what would be called America, settlers and many different Native tribes often clashed.
The Natives found no relief in treaties, most of which were not upheld.
Settlers felt a right to expand creating much agitation between the two cultures. These hostilities didn't officially end until January 9, 1918. Many soldiers fresh from the Civil War went west to join in the fight. Most famous was George A, Custer, who met his Waterloo at Little Big Horn.
Our collections from this war include weapons, uniforms, photographs, flags and much more.
