On Saturday September 24th the Veterans National Memorial Shrine & Museum located at 2122 O’Day Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46818 announced a new Gold Star Families memorial coming to the grounds.

In addition to the Woody Williams Foundation's support, Terry Hudson, former board member, and his family generously supported the installation with a $50,000 donation.

Gold Star Families are the family members of anyone who has lost their life while serving in the United States Armed Forces in any conflict that we have participated in. It was the life mission of Woody Williams and The Woody Williams Foundation to honor, recognize, and serve Gold Star Families and the legacy of their Loved Ones who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Marine veteran Woody Williams was the last surviving World War II veteran to win the Medal of Honor and a foundation in his name was established. Woody died on June 29, 2022.

We are honored to announce that a Gold Star Families Memorial Monument will be coming to the Veterans National Memorial Shrine & Museum. Funds are currently being raised to erect the memorial.

Donations can be made to: Tiffany Careins coordinator of the fund raiser at 260-437-4835 or go to and click on Fort Wayne Memorial!
