Armistice Day Ceremony
Fort Wayne, IN: On Tuesday, July 27th the Veterans National
Memorial Shrine and Museum will host a Korean War Veterans
Armistice Day Ceremony from 11am to 1pm at the Shrine Pavilion
located at 2122 O’Day Road. Korean War Veterans and their families
are invited to attend. There will be a ceremony honoring Korean
Veterans in attendance. Antoinette Lee will be the featured speaker
at the event. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
This year marks the 68th Anniversary of the end of the Korean War.
The war began in June of 1950 when communist North Korea
invaded South Korea. After three years of fierce fighting, an armistice
was signed and a new border between North and South Korea known
as the demilitarized zone was established. The war cost the lives of
millions of Koreans and Chinese, as well as 50,000 Americans.
The Veterans National Memorial Shrine and Museum is open
Monday, Thursday and Sunday 11am to 4pm. Memorial grounds are
open 24/7. Admission is free. Donations are always accepted.
